Larvex 100

Larvex 100 is a non-poisonous, non-toxic formulation that can be used safely and effectively without special equipment or training. Larvex 100 is completely biodegradable because it is derived from natural resources and is highly cost-effective. Larvex 100 is composed of 100% active monomolecular ingredients, for use against all Mosquito types.

Larvex 100 is in official use in Asia, Europe, South America as well as in Africa.

This product was developed in the UK and has been used successfully all over the world. It has been tested and approved by the National Malaria Control Centre of the Zambian Ministry of Health and many other official organizations as far and wide as Sri Lanka, Kenya, and South America.

Uses of Larvex 100

Larvex 100 can be used in pools, wells, lakes, sewers, ponds, storage tanks, dams, reservoirs, and potable waters with complete safety and minimal effect on non-target organisms. Because Larvex 100 is derived from natural oil, known as water-insoluble surfactants, it is completely non-toxic and bio-degradable.

Larvex 100 Mode of Action

Larvex is not a toxicant. Its mode of action is physical. it has a strong water surface action (surfactant) which causes the wetting of the interior of the respiratory trumpet of mosquito larva and pupa thus allowing the entry of water that suffocates and drowns them. The mono-layer also forms a preventive barrier against female mosquito oviposition.

Larvex 100 Rates and methods of Application

Clean water bodies

The rate of use is 0.5mls per m2 (5 liters per hectare). It is self-spreading and requires no application equipment. Pour the appropriate quantity onto the water surface. It will quickly spread to cover the entire water surface. When dealing with large water bodies such as dams and lakes, pour the measured dosage at several points around the water body.

Sewers and polluted areas

The rate of use is 1ml per m2 poured at several points around the water body. Where weeds are abundant, and other vegetative growth a sprayer to inject the product onto the water surface may be necessary.

Frequency of Application

During the breeding season first, repeat after 7 days and then after every 3 weeks. This will effectively break the mosquito breeding cycle.

Environmental Impact of Larvex 100

Larvex is a non-toxicant and does not affect marine life (fish etc). It is biodegradable and does not accumulate in the environment. It is therefore environmentally friendly.
