Quickphos contains 56-57% aluminum phosphide as the active substance and 43-44% inert components that facilitate the controlled outgassing of phosphine. The outgassing of the tablets begins after a brief delay once the fumigation product comes into contact with the product or ambient moisture. The outgassing rate depends on the temperature and humidity levels.
All developmental stages of stored product pests can be controlled with phosphine. The highly potent gas penetrates nearly all packaging materials and densely packed stored products. Since phosphine reacts with noble metals such as silver, gold, copper, and their compounds, these substances must be provided with sufficient protection from fumigation.
Quickphos tablets and pellets are known for their ability to develop phosphine gas within a very short time on being exposed to the atmosphere, depending on the temperature and humidity.
Quickphos can be used for the control of pests in grains such as rice, wheat, barley, maize, oats, sorghum, millet, rye, etc., leaf tobacco, processed foods, and animal feeds as well as flour, dried fruit, nuts, spices, oilseeds, confectionery, and biscuits. The product is used to control stored insect pests of grains, seeds, dried fruits, pasta & noodles, flour, wood, raw agricultural commodities, processed foods, and other non-food items. It can control all stages of stored product pests when properly used according to the label. These commodities may be fumigated under gas proof sheets or in other sealed enclosures.
Quickphos has been found effective against stored product insects and their preadult stages (eggs, larvae, and pupae). Insects controlled include grain and rice weevils, saw-toothed grain beetle, confused flour beetle. lesser grain borer, flat grain beetle, cadelle, khapra beetle, Indian meal moth. Mediterranean flour moth, cigarette beetle, and tobacco moth.
The product is composed of aluminum phosphide. It liberates phosphine gas when it is in contact with humidity, which is deadly to insects at all levels of development. Evolution of PHOSPHINE gas continues for 3-5 days leaving a pile of the harmless, inert residue of aluminum hydroxide.

Quickphos Mode of Action
The product starts to produce phosphine gas in 30 to 60 minutes after the first contact with the atmosphere. The process dynamics depend on air temperature and humidity. Phosphine is effective against all pests of stored foodstuffs’ developmental stages, as well as some rodents that penetrate from the outside. The gas has a high penetrating ability; it diffuses rapidly throughout nearly all packaging materials as well as through tightly packed goods.

Correct Dosage of Quickphos
The correct dosage and the appropriate exposure time are dependent on certain factors like temperature and humidity, the nature of storage sealing, product packing, and the species of storage pest to be exterminated.
Dosage is 1g per cubic meter. When used as directed, does not affect the milling property of the grain. the baking quality of flour, or the germination of seeds. The residue left after
fumigation is harmless and disappears when the grain is turned.

Restraints
- Do not use when commodity temperature is below 15oC and/or the relative humidity within the structure is high or with row cereal grain, the moisture content should be less than 9%.
- Don’t fumigate in inhabited buildings.
- Don’t use on any commodity, empty containers, or vessels that are in transit.
- Don’t heap tablets.
- Don’t apply as a surface-only treatment in a structure whose height exceeds twice its width.
- Phosphine is also highly toxic to humans and warm-blooded animals.
Storage Conditions
- Store the flask in a cool, dry place.
- Open burning and dumping are prohibited.
- Do not re-use the empty containers.
- Bury empty containers in an isolated level spot at least 2 feet deep and away from wells, streams, and water supplies
